How much is it worth to you?

There are four things you can do here:

* Contact the person that gave you the laptop and see if he/she remembers the password.

* Press ctrl + alt + delete at the logon screen to use the alternative logon...type in the username ''Administrator'' (without the quotation marks) and click OK, leaving the password field blank. A lot of people never set a password for the default admin account, so you might get lucky.

* Use the services of, assuming it's worth $200.

* Wipe the drive clean (erase everything) with a free program like Kill Disk, then use the System Recovery CDs (assuming those were included in the transaction, to reinstall Windows XP.

Hope this helps,

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
