About half the time and keep in mind these are PCs from clients with so much unknown that I do try my best with tricks like booting the W10 and recovery USB stick, heading to a command prompt to chkdsk all drives with the full /F /R /X options then try the automatic repairs offered in the W10 install and repair stick.

F11 sounds like some OEM HP or such recovery and that is dead everytime if the owner took an upgrade to W10.

but i tried a windows install from usb and dvd nothing?

In reply to: This has happened to me.

hi but even booting from usb drive ? and a windows dvd install ? when you choose it nothing happens , just says " not supported " on screen. ive done resets hundreds of times at my shop and re-installs.. but this is weird.. i tried resetting the bios settings to defaults and still same issue??

Could be a side effect of a prior upgrade.

Sometimes you can't use the usual tools, chkdsk and such. Usually a sign the OS has taken damage (turning it off during updates is a common source), not enough free space, CHKDSK has to be run on it and more.

When you exhaust what you know, you wipe the drive (we only lose what we didn't backup) and start over.

i cant boot into anything.. whenever i choose from dvd or usb to boot, it just goes into a black screen immediately and says " not supported" .. ??? i never had an issue like this.. i think my only option is to take out the hard drive , connect to another pc and install windows like that unless is there another way?/ i want to keep everything oem and original thats why

That...

In reply to: as i said i cant boot into anything,,

That is usually traced to an incorrectly made boot drive or DVD or pilot error in the BIOS operation.

So far, not once have I encountered the machine really couldn't boot good media unless the DVD was shot or the USB ports were dead.

Tell me exactly how you made your USB W10 recover and boot stick.

I suspect...

In reply to: That...

that the "image" was burnt as a file. Therefore not a bootable image.

When I see this I test the boot drive again and then consider forcing the issue by unplugging the current HDD or SSD so the machine has no choice but to boot from the USB stick.

Some PCs can't boot from USB 3.x ports so be sure you are on a legacy port.

sorry its hp 110 desktop 110-023w i tried disabling secure boot and enabled legacy and still same issue..

That should not affect it.

In reply to: sorry its hp 110 desktop 110-023w

But I do recall something that does. I can't know what their BIOS calls it but it's FAST BOOT. FAST BOOT bypasses the check or option to boot from other media so to get the fastest possible boot time.

i had to disable boot of everything EUFI and only boot from legacy and it worked , weird never had this issue before.. legacy was already enabled but i think theres a bug in this bios where it will just get stuck on booting from EUFI hard drive thats it.. but thanks guys
