Question

Can't format computer after uninstall ubuntu

Sep 23, 2017 5:20AM PDT

Hi. My problem is I can't format my computer. I was using win 10 and ubuntu together until someday ubuntu gives network problem.
I was noob and decided to erase ubuntu section under win10 and reinstall it. I relaized later that was a problem. gnu grub bootloader or something like that left behind and I couln't start win 10 directly or format win 10 because everytime I tried to format win10, gnu grub would show up and I couldn't find DVD or USB boot options. After many tries that I found on internet, I still can't format my computer.
Last situation is I can see DVD option and start to erase my computer or re-instal win 10 but at %45, it gives error and quit erasing without any changes. If I ever try fixing problems with win 10 DVD, it says some portions are missing and process couln't be done.
I already lost the track of what I have tried. Probably everything on internet that I could find. I have working on this for 4-5 months and I give up today. If someone can help, I would be very thankful.

Answer
To install Windows you need a blank drive.

Formatting will fail so you need to remove all the old partitions and start the install with a blanked drive.

Grab a copy of gparted live and put it on a disc.
Boot the disc.
Delete all the partitions on the hdd.

Boot the w10 disc and let it install on the hdd.
