Question

Can’t for the life of me get into my Windows Vista computer?

Mar 24, 2018 3:16PM PDT

So, here’s the deal. When I was nine I received a Dell Inspiron 1545, and it worked wonderfully. Now I’m eighteen and I want to get into it again because I need a VM. So today I tried to get back into it and I don’t know the password at all. I can’t access anything through it and I’ve tried out every tutorial on the internet that covers it. I also just finished CS50 with Harvard to get my technology certification, and if my ******* can’t figure it out, I feel like nobody can. I’m frustrated, hopeless, and ready to rip my head off.

Here’s a YouTube video that I made for further detail.

Thank you so much!

Clarification Request
You just want a VHD file off this computer?

Boot a LIVE DVD from a linux distribution and use it's file manager to find all the files you wish to save to other media like a USB flash drive.

Part 2. Boot loop?
Mar 24, 2018 4:03PM PDT

Since no safe mode or such works, the OS is likely too damaged to use these common tricks.

Or you left USB sticks plugged in (NOTHING PLUGGED IN TO FIX THAT) or there's been a change to the machine like new RAM or the HDD is from another PC.

-> ALL THAT ASIDE you can run a VM in Linux so it may be time for Linux if you lost this laptop's factory recovery media.

I watched the video and it seems OK.

I checked their other posts and this came up as a single.

Did they post on a lot of forums?

So far we don't have a feature to alert on lock and unlocks.

I'll apologize but I had the page up unlocked and had a reply in and later bombed and then I saw your post. Any how. The youtube looks OK so far. Shame they have to deal with a blown OS though.

Did ANYONE, even unbeknownst to you change the SATA MODE?

I've seen this failure and tracked it back to the owner tinkering with BIOS SATA settings.
