Question

Can't find my pictures anywhere.....

Apr 23, 2019 11:22PM PDT

I have Nikon Coolpix S3300 camera. I uploaded to my laptop about 15 pics into File Explorer, and OneDrive with my USB card reader. I saw all the pics inside the laptop and was satisfied, so I removed the USB card reader from the laptop, removed the card from the USB reader and put it back in the camera, then deleted those pics from memory to have more room.

When I proceeded to send the pics to my family.....I couldn't find them anywhere! The places where I found them the first time were: SDHC(E:); DCIM; 100Nikon but now these disappeared also. I spent almost all day searching all over and no luck. I tried to search the Microsoft Edge as I saw its icon once in my taskbar, but couldn't find where their photos page was.

I know I should've never deleted them from the camera, but they were already transferred to my laptop. I beg someone to please help me find those pictures? Thanks ever so much! Happy

SDHC(E:)\DCIM\100Nikon is the SD-card in your camera or the SD card in your reader while it was connected with the laptop. It's not on your laptop itself, and apparently they weren't transferred either.

In the future, better copy them to a good place on your c:-drive (say, you're My Pictures folder) and include them in your regular backup also (which could be Onedrive, of course). Then the chance that you'll ever lose them is quite small.

Thank you so much Kees for your reply and I'm sorry i didn't answer sooner but I didn't get a notice from Cnet - I just came back out of desperation....

I'm just wondering how they could not have been transferred when I saw them inside my laptop twice. Their names were like this type: DSCN1741.JPG and actually I had 7 not 15 as I thought before. Do you still think they haven't been transferred at all? Or is there hope to find them? (They say nothing ever disappears completely from a computer...) Do you think one of those recuperating tools like "Recuva" could find them maybe?

Another possibility: Do you think it's possible to recuperate them from the Nikon digital camera' memory even though I deleted them?

The above 2 thoughts would be my absolute last chance.....

Thanks again for trying to help! Happy

I you didn't make any new pictures after deleting them from your SD card, a tool like Recuva might be able to find them there. Just connect, and when drive E: is that card, ask Recuva to scan that card. What happens?

PARTIAL (very partial) SUCCESS WITH RECUVA, YAY! A big hug and thank you to Kees for suggesting it. Of all the pictures of this bunch only 2 were recovered. One is fine and I hastened to send it out. The other one was difficult to copy or move into my email, and after a lot of struggle I was able to put it in my email but.....it's upside down and I found nowhere a tool to straighten it out.

I was at the same time trying it out to see if I wanted to buy it but it made a poor show of performance so, too bad.

Again thanks a lot for your good help! Wink
