Question

Can't connect via ethernet, but connects via wifi?

Jul 30, 2016 1:54PM PDT

I am not sure what I did, or how to fix it, but all of a sudden, my computer will only connect via wifi, even though I am directly connected via ethernet. Did I hit something? Was it from a Windows 10 update? How can I fix this? Thanks in advance.

I had to turn off my WiFi to get Ethernet to work. On one other machine I also had to reboot.

Try this: Your PC might have a static IP, you need to get rid of that

First go to Control panel -> go to networking -> right click on the Ethernet adapter -> go to ipv4 settings and make sure you have it on auto

Then press OK. Then Right click disable adapter, then enable adapter.

That should do it

ethernet card driver is correct for Windows 10. Check on the computer makers website on the drivers page.
