Can't connect to Internet without ether cord

Aug 10, 2016 9:45PM PDT

I was working on my computer until 2:30am yesterday morning. Computer was working fine and wireless access was working as well. Tried to get back on the internet around 9:30 am and it said there was no wireless connection available. I thought this was odd as I had been on the Internet just 7 hrs earlier. The laptop will connect to Internet with ether cord but not wireless. The router has been reset and is working. My iPhone, my son's android and his laptop (exact same model as mine) is able to pick up wireless connection. I am trying to upload homework files through the Internet but cannot realistically sit on the floor next to router for several hours of the day to do so. Please help me!!

Re: WiFi

- Can you see other wireless connections offered than yours? Usually, there's a whole list of neighbours routers you can't access (because you don't know the password), but they are listed in wireless connection manager.
- If none at all, and reboot doesn't help, and there's nothing strange for the WiFi in Device Manager, and there has been no silent Windows backup updating the driver, it's likely to be a hardware issue. Then try a USB wireless adapter to replace the one built-in.

did you do a power cycle?
Aug 11, 2016 2:13AM PDT

did you do a power cycle? turn off the laptop, unplug the power from both the modem and router for a slow 10 count. power up the modem, wait for all the lights come on as normal, then power up the router, wait for a few minutes then power up the laptop. if it does not help, recheck all the settings making sure it is not trying to connect to a neighbors wifi. finally, take it someplace that has free wifi and see if it can connect there.
