Question

Can't change the color on the taskbar

Jul 11, 2019 6:54PM PDT

Never really tried to change the color before, but now it seems to be greyed out. W+I / personalization / color. I can change the 'title bars & windows borders, but not taskbar. A google search seemed to suggest this is a 'bug'! Maybe someone knows a workaround or a 'reg' fix.

Thanks in advance

I bet you'll have to use an app.

The reason I posted is that I didn't see this issue posted on the list of "issues" previously noted on this forum.

Thanks for replying

Google and the Microsoft forums. What I didn't find was a solid workaround. Some said to change to a light or dark theme then it worked but it was hit and miss so my take is you want some app for now. As to the registry that is too much work to get to the key and try different values that may require a reboot so I didn't look into that.

There is a clue (some may not get it) at https://mspoweruser.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/xalm-tool.jpg which may explain why it doesn't work unless you use a light or dark theme.

Thanks - I used a 'dark' theme

and I was able to get to put a check mark on the 'taskbar' part, so its 'better'. I have the "temperature" on taskbar so now I can see it, and my other icons better.

Thanks
