canon vs panasonic HD camcorders

by snoonian / September 6, 2010 1:48 AM PDT

i've been a big fan of canon products in the past, and now that i'm in the market for a new HD camcorder, i've read a lot of great things about canons, and the panasonic TM700. With so many choices out there, even just between the two brands, it's almost impossible to make a decision. Canon, alone, has so many variations of almost the same model.

What are your thoughts on canon versus panasonic? are there any other brands that I should consider? I'd like something in the high-end consumer or prosumer range. If I can keep it under $1000, that would be nice too. The majority of things i'd be shooting are for personal / family use. I'd also like good low-light capabilities and good audio. I suppose anything is better than my old canon DC 10 camcorder which was a mini DV.

I'm on a mac, so I imagine i'll be doing my editing in iMovie.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and opinions.

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
