Canon Vixia HF R100 Import Format not compatable

I have just bought this camcorder and when I import the video files onto my computer they are in AVC format which isn't compatable with my windows computer or windows movie maker at all, I cant even play them back in Media Player.

I was wondering if there is any way of switching the import file format to MPEG which it says it can, but I have no idea how.

I use my camcorder to film me and my friend horse riding so I NEED them to play back to watch or to make videos with. I cant if they are in AVC format.

PLEASE HELP ME!!! I love this camcorder but is regretting it bacuse of computer compatable issues.

you cant switch the recording format, but you can convert it with several programs. that costs money and is time consuming tho
