canon tech support problems...

Mar 2, 2005 11:32AM PST

Has anyone else experienced problems with Canon tech support or "customer service"...I sent my eos digital rebel camera in under our dealer four weeks ago, and we have had no responses to queries or requests for information. I am getting the runaround because I am not the dealer who sent it, and they have told me when they get on the phone with Canon, they get put on hold for a long period of time. In essence, the tech support people blamed the dealer for not calling when the dealer is busy in the store waiting on customers like it's the dealer's fault for the camera not being fixed when Canon should fix it themselves...I need this camera for work, and I am getting the feeling they couldn't care less...

thanks...

Canon customer support

Sorry to hear of your troubles, but you're not alone. As I stated in an earlier posting, I avoid Canon products like a plague due to repeated poor customer support experiences. I was also annoyed by the lack of hard copy user manuals with many of their products. Instead they had included a cd rom or a web address. I returned my Canon, bought a Nikon and will never go back to Canon products again.

I see confusion.

Let me be blunt. I read your words above and something sounds fishy. It seems you didn't send it in but someone else. I've experienced dealers that lollygag (diddle, delay, fib) about sending such in and they even may ship it off to the wrong address.

To me it sounds like you didn't ship it. You may want to take this as a lesson in the future and handle the calls, shipping and returns yourself.
