Canon t2i or Nikon D3100

Hello, I currently own a Sony cybershot W290 and I want to buy a dslr but I don't know which one to buy. The reason why I want a dslr is because the sony that I currently own produces horrible low light images with a ton of noise. Most of the pictures that I take are at iso 600 and above so I want something that takes clean pictures at higher iso levels. My choices are between the Nikon D3100 and the Canon T2i. It is a really hard choice for me to pick because my local Best Buy is selling them for around (nikon 650, canon 780) the same price and this is my first dslr. Can you tell which camera takes better pictures in low light.

I just bought the canon yesterday, still trying to figure it outHappy... Since you have owned a sony, me too, check out the Sony alpha 33/55. I messed around with it yesterday and really thought hard in that one. In the end I decided a camera is more than the body, but the whole system.
I think the canon does better in low light.
