Not much has changed between the two.
The SX150IS switched from CCD sensors to CMOS sensors.
This usually means that you should be able to take photos in rapid succession much quicker.
But, it also changed to 14MP (from 12MP), and that usually means that the images will have less detail.
Because, more megapixels means more noise and that means the camera will be using more noise suppression, and that mean the images will have less detail.
I looked at sample photos of the same subject from both cameras and when "pixel peeping" at full size images, the SX150IS has less detail and that makes the image look softer (less sharp).
At normal sizes like 4 x 6 inch pictures, you will not be able to tell the differences.
But with large prints, you will be able to tell the differences.
Both Canon and Sony make excellent lenses.
But how they are used is sometimes not excellent.
Rule of Thumb: Cheaper cameras will have cheaper lenses.
..
How is Canon sx130IS? The budget is 500 + the price of sx130IS. No matter in a change of 2MP or some pixelations. Is this good for its price or are there any competitive cameras from other manufacturers in this price range.
