Question

Canon software stopped working why?

Jun 28, 2012 4:45AM PDT

I wanted to download some photos from my camera but for some reason the program wouldn't work, nothing came up. I opened the EOS utility but nearly everything was greyed out except for something called Monitor Folder. I ended up uninstalling the program and then reinstalled it, but nothing changed. I have a Canon A630 camera and apparently it's concidered too old now for any help from Canon. The camera works well and I do hope someone can tell me how I can download the pictures onto my computer. Maybe there's some other program I could download??
Thank you

Answer
Card Reader

All you need is a card reader.

You can find a card reader at any store that sells digital cameras.

You will find some for less than $10.

The card reader will attach to your computer through a USB port.
Remove the SD memory card from your camera and insert it into the card reader.

Canon Software stopped working

Not sure this is the problem. I did find another program that allowed me to download the photos but I really would prefer the Canon one. What would the card reader have to do with the program on my computer? I use windows XP I don't understand why most of the items in the program are greyed out even after uninstalling it and then reinstalling it.
