Question

Canon SD630 Low Battery Indicator after Full Charge

Aug 9, 2014 4:25AM PDT

anyone know how to troubleshoot this issue? Had the camera for quite some time but recently after fully charging two canon batteries shorlty after they are inserted I get a low battery indicator and then the camera shuts off. Is it the camera or the battery. I've tried changing the chargers and that didn't work. Should I buy a new battery is it is the camera. I see that other canon models have this issue but those models use standard batteries.

Please help Sad

How old are these batteries?

Past a few years and they can go south. Rare but try cleaning the battery contacts (see the web if you don't know about that.)

Canon SD630 Battery issue
Aug 9, 2014 8:45AM PDT

Camera and batteries (x2) are over 7 years old. Both batteries register on the charger (x2) over 7 years old and 1 universal which is brand new.

I will look into it. Thank you. Camera was lightly used and this just recently started happening.

Most batteries are 300 cycle rated or about 18 months. yes we get more at times but this is so old....

Agreed. However...

Very old. however since it full charges on all 3 chargers I assumed it could be the camera. checked camera and all prongs are in tact and clean. I was hoping someone else had a similiar issue and was able to troubleshot it. I wanted to use for my upcoming overseas trip. Trying to not lug around the big dsl and use my phone. Thank you.

I will drop by best buy and get a battery and test it in store.

Try the reset

However the old battery that charges and then drops dead as soon as connected is such a well done discussion that well, so well done that I hope you can find another battery to test with.
