Canon SD600 vs. SD1000

by argetlam2103 / March 20, 2008 3:49 AM PDT

I've been doing some research and I've found numerous favorable reviews concerning these two cameras based on performance & image quality. Does anyone have personal experiences with either of them? I know the SD600 is discontinued, but I'm willing to put out a little more if it's definitely worth the money.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Canon SD600 - SD1000

The Canon SD1000 was the replacement for the SD600.

There is now a SD1100IS which is a SD1000 with Image Stabilization.

The only reason to buy the SD600 would be if you could buy it for much less than the SD1000.

Worth the Money?

I understand about the 1000 being the successor to the 600 and the same with the 1100, but it seems to me that the 600 & 1000 received more favorable reviews over the 1100.

Aside from more MP & IS, is there any other key differences with the 1100?

Thanks.

Thanks for the link, I'll be sure to take a look at it.

One thing I forgot to mention earlier that I noticed with the 600 & 1000 is that their shot-to-shot & continuous shot times ranked better than the 1100. Is that because the IS causes lag in the new model? If so, is it a problem?

SD1100IS

You found the other error in the SD1100 chart.
The chart shows that the SD1100 has a 7 megapixel CCD.
In fact, it has an 8 megapixel CCD.

The more megapixels you have, the slower the shot to shot and continuous speeds will be.

Of course, you could always set the camera to take 7 megapixel images.

Be sure to read the Performance page of the review.

You should also note that for their performance tests they were using a Sandisk Extreme III memory card.
If you use a slower card, it could affect the speeds they published.
