Canon SD300 Movie Unwanted Watermark

Apr 12, 2005 9:13AM PDT

Just purchased a Canon SD300 and shot a test video. After downloading to the PC using the provided Canon software it now has "PC Video" and "www.jpg.com" stamped on each frame. Why is this occuring? It does not show up on the in-camera preview, so I assume it is being added by the downloading software. Any help on how to stop this from occuring would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

You have the shareware version of the PicView Codec.

"Note that the shareware (unregistered) version will add the PicVideo watermark when decompressing, as well as when compressing."

I'd not use that one.

That appears to be the problem. However, why doesn`t Canon give you an easy way to update the software. I also just exported the avi file to a mov format and ran it in QT. It didn`t have the watermark. So, I could get around it in this way, but what a pain.

Thanks.
