Canon SD 300 or SD 400

May 25, 2005 1:19PM PDT

Hey there. I am just about to purchase my first new digital camera in 4 years! I was just wondering if i should save some money and go with the SD 300 or pay the extra $100 or so for the SD400. Is there a huge difference between features or picture quality?? I am also considering the Nikon coolpix S1. Thanks a lot in advance!

I would just like to add that just because the SD400 has more megapixels doesn't mean it will take better pictures. The SD400 used the same sensor as the SD300 but added a million more pixels which causes more noise. If 4 megapixels is enough then I would go for the SD300.

If you've got the extra money to throw away go for the pricier model. Quality and features between the two would be the same. I don't think the extra megapixel is going to make a world of difference. If you're still confused you can always toss a coin.
