Just got my SD200 back from Canon - they did fix it at no charge. A note was included that basically gave me a lecture on how to take care of the camera so the lcd wouldn't break again. Maybe I should write back and let them know they need to make a sturdier lcd.
I purchased a Canon SD200 in December 2004. It's a nice point-and-shoot camera. The LCD recently quit for no apparent reason, looks like a little hairline crack across the screen (not the outside, but on the inside). My local dealer suggested I dropped or abused the camera, which is false. I kept it in a Canon-brand protective case 24/7, have never dropped it or jostled it unreasonably, and have been very careful with it. In fact, it still looks brand new, not a mark or scratch on it. My local Dealer indicated that Canon has to determine whether it was my fault or not. Upon doing a Google search, I discovered many other SD owners with the exact same complaint who did not get satisfaction through Canon. Any other SD owners out there have a similar experience? Do you know of any recourse for me in the event Canon refuses to fix it (other than small claims court), even though it's under warranty and I did nothing wrong? Thanks.
