These two cameras are looking for the same customer.
They are rated equal by their owners.
If the tilting LCD is important, you can choose the Sony H9 for about $60 more.
Here is a comparison of specifications:

Notice the red stars ... they represents the rating by owners of the cameras.
Right under the red stars is a link to customer comments.
Read them all and you will get a good idea of what owners like and dislike about both cameras.
But it looks like you really can't make a mistake, no matter which one you choose.

Hey guys,
I'm on the market for a new digital camera with extended zooms and since I don't have the money for an SLR these seem the next best thing. They fit my budget and have narrowed it down to those two models so it is going to end up one or the other. Pricing is the same as well.
I've never had such a hard time deciding on a purchase. I realize there are no perfect products out there so both have the strengths and weakness'
I have to admit that right now, I'm starting to go towards the Sony a little. Not because I don't like the cannon but because of what is included. I currently have an old Cybershot P73 so I already have some memory sticks (although I'll probably need a bigger capacity one).
I do like the Canon as well though for all its options and it's tilting LCD screen.
I know there was a thread of this but it dates of 2007 hence if some of you have used either model since, what is your take?
Thx for your help ![]()
