Canon S3 IS or Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS?

by mattcats / July 7, 2007 2:21 PM PDT

I'm just a mom - with no photography experience to speak of. I need a camera which will be good indoors and outdoors and will be good for sports action shots. I believe I've narrowed it down to these 2 cameras due to megazoom capability, 6-7 mp's, and cost - under $300. But I cannot decide between them. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Which?

I believe you will be pleased with either camera.
Both produce excellent sharp photos.

There is little difference between the two.
The most mentioned difference is the size of the LCD.
With Kodak having a 2.5 inch LCD and the Canon having a 2.0 inch LCD.
Of course the Canon LCD can tilt and swivel.

This is a situation where you really can't make a mistake.
I suggest you visit a store where you can get your hands on both cameras and see which one feels right to you.

The Canon S3 IS can grab a still frame at any resolution while the video cam mode continues to operate....... This requires a fairly large memory stick but is invaluable in getting fleeting critical shots.......
