Resolved Question

Canon S100 or Nikon P7100?

Feb 14, 2012 11:18AM PST

After many days of research, I discarded a lot of other options and I've come to the decision that my new camera should be either a Canon Powershot S100 or a Nikon Coolpix P7100, both with a 1/1.7" sensor and costing less than $500.00.
However, this decision is being really hard to me. Then I'd like to ask you fellows your opinion.
Which one has the better image quality? I know the Collpix P7100 has a smaller pixel density, but its sensor is a CCD type, while the Powershot S100's is a CMOS. Also, the lenses are different. So, does anyone here know which of them produces better quality images?
Thanks in advance!

The Same

IMHO, image quality is about the same between the two, at least when comparing quality at different ISO on a standard test scene. That doesn't take into account different focal lengths or apertures, but it would be difficult to compare anyway since they cover a different range.

I agree with you, canon S100 is durable and has prestige over Nikon.
