Canon's Elura 70 vs 90

Jun 3, 2005 1:01AM PDT

It seems the biggest difference is that the 70 does not have a built-in flash/light, where the 90 does.
Right now, they are approximately the same price, but the 70 has the added expense of the external light.

Is it better to go with built-in light?
Are the external lights fragile and thus likely to need replacement often?

Are there any other performance differences between them?

Also, the 90 is listed as "NEW" on canon's website. Would that make it more advantageous to buy over the 70?
Thanks. (I need to buy this weekend: trips and graduation and tons of other events coming up)

If the 70 is less expensive, get it. You will not notice any difference between the two other than the 70 has a hot shoe.

Canon choices
Jun 7, 2005 8:03AM PDT

I am choosing between the Elura 80 and 90. No 70 available in my store, and I need to by ASAP. I haven't seen any discussion of the Elura 80. Is it as good as you say the 70 is? Or is the 90 worth the extra $150?

And what about the ZR200 or ZR300?

I am just looking for an easy to work, decent quality camcorder to replace my Sony DCRTR8 that melted down a year ago. After seeing the discussion on Sony problems similar to mine, I'm going with the Canon.

But I'd love your thoughts!

hi mcmani,

you will find reviews for most canon camcorders on http://www.camcorderinfo.com/
some are on the home page and others will be under the camcorder reviews link on the left side of the page.

i hope this helps.

Friends,
Check this website for camcorder info. I've used it for my research for both a camera and my camcorder and it is better designed for normal people using camcorders in normal real-life situations.
I just bought the ELura 85 myself, after much research. I was going for the 80, but I found the 85 for only $35 more and I know I will find use for that mic input. (buydig.com)
I hope this helps
