Canon Printers

Sep 4, 2010 2:52AM PDT

Hello all
My Canon S9000 printer has just warned me that the surplus ink tank is nearly full. If it is not serviced (at an authorized Canon Depot) the printer will stop working. I had this happen on my S900, but I did nothing about it; the cost of servicing it was as much as buying a cheap printer...

Is this solely a Canon problem, or do other printer makes allow owners to refurbish the surplus ink tank?
I find it very annoying that Canon printers have this built-in redundancy, a throw away when full policy!
What does the Forum say to this?
regards,
George E. Todd
