delete the printer form the Printer list, Reset the print services by following this article, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1341
and then add the printer back in again

I have a Canon mono all-in-one printer that I like very much, BUT I have to reinstall the driver at least daily and sometimes several times in a day, because when I try to print the printer isn't recognized. (I get an error message: -9781.) I talked with Canon tech support for quite awhile and was told that the problem apparently is with my Mac OS software, not Canon. I'd really like to get this sorted out, because it's driving me batty.
I have a PowerMac G5 tower running OS 10.5.8.
