Canon Powershot S2 IS and sports

by vicki07 / January 30, 2006 5:46 AM PST

Since this camera doesn't have a sports setting-how can I best set this camera up for taking sports photos?

They are of my daughter playing basketball inside with sometimes weird and low lighting.

Thanks for any help.

The general "rule" is to select a fast shutter speed. that means the Shutter Priority Mode, and choose a shutter speed of, say 1/250. It may help if you pan the camera. Experiment. Try the "Beach SCN" mode. Note that whatever mode you choose, the shutter speed will appear at the monitor/view finder. You will know that you will get a blurred shot if it indicates, say, 1/30.
