Canon Pixma Mp145 Cannot communicate with scanner msg

Nov 14, 2008 10:47PM PST

hi i bought a brand new canon pixma mp145
The printer and copier works like a charm, no problem in installation of drivers.
But whenever i try to scan using mp navigator which is the native scanner of canon, it gives me a error, cannot communicate with the scanner make sure its connected or somehting like that.
I even checked the Devices manager and canon mp145 ser is listed under imaging devices..
i have searched internet and many people face the same problem. They provided the resolution as using a short usb cable or a premuim usb cable..
but thats not the fix, as i am using short usb cable only.. i tried scanning using vuescan but it works like a scan and detects my scan, but its a trial version and hangs up while closing... not best suitable
can you provide me a fix which could help resolve and make mp navigator to recognize the canon scanner..

Sounds like a warranty issue or a product defect. Give them one call and if they don't fix it, pack it up and return it as defective.

No vuescan noted or I missed it. You wrote "i try to scan using mp navigator which is the native scanner of canon, it gives me a error, cannot communicate with the scanner make sure its connected or somehting like that."

Since that's the supplied software it is possible you broke the supplied software by installing other scanner software. The maker may not support more than their software being installed.

Good luck,
Bob

hey bob.
see i am not here to ask you suggestion about whether the maker would support third party software or not.. but i wanted a solution or fix...something. or any other alternatives. Because a native application of canon cannot scan and i am not asking people whether i can give to dealer or not. Thats my last choice. I don't prefer returning the machine to Dealer for pity problem that too software issue.

I hope you understand y i am posting.. If a third party scanner can Scan without any problems.. and my native application or any other applications like omnipage, Arcsoft Studio couldn't scan.. then whats this all about ?

I hope you understand that...

It seems the product and it's bundled software is defective. Such defects are fairly well known and there is only one solution. Have them supply a working product.

Some may insist that others supply a solution but when they deliver a dud, we must pack and return it fast.
