General discussion

Canon or Sony

May 6, 2005 1:35AM PDT

As I continue my pursuit on purchasing the best camcorder available for me and my needs, yesterday, I went to Best Buy yesterday looking at a couple of camcorders...mainly Sony. While I'm looking around asking questions about this particular camcorder, (I believe is the Sony DCR-HC90), the sales associate and a couple of customers were telling me that I'm wasting my time looking at a Sony camcorder and I should shift my attention to a Canon camcorder. Some of the reasons were that Canon shoots a sharper image/video/picture, they are more durable, and it's much easier and cheaper to maintain than Sony.

Is that true? Anybody who know's about this and are familar with both, please provide some clarity to this!!

Go with Sony. I have bought them all and they all shoot wonderful footage outside in daylight, but only Sony gives you great performance indoors. I ordered my HC90 from B&H and it should be here in a couple of days. ($779.00 by the way) I am replacing my current Sony, which I am very happy with, but I want the newer model. (I'm a sucker for upgrades) You will not be dissapointed. I have never had a problem with my Sony.

You held it in your hand. What do you think. It is an awsome camcorder. It will produce extremely sharp, brilliant footage in 16:9 format if you want.

The HC90 is also top notch indoors.

You will not be diapointed with the HC90.
