Canon Optura60 mini DV basics

Apr 14, 2005 5:20AM PDT

I recently purchased a Canon Optura60. This is my first mini dv camcorder and am hoping for some advice on tricks of the trade, converting to dvd, and any other tips on what accessories i really need, etc. I am running xP Pro on my laptop. Thanks!!

And I really like it.

I really don't think you'll need much except an extra battery and a firewire cable to get video to the PC. I use a Mac so all the software I need is included; iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD.

Thanks Tom,
Should i use firewire instead of the included usb? Also, I did realize i need an extra battery and ordered the larger capacity BP-2l14 along with a wall charger. Have not really recorded anything serious yet but like what i see so far! Anyway, please advise on the firewire and thanks for the input.

Does your computer have a firewire interface?

If so, that's the way to go.

Awesome info! Thank you! I guess there is a steeper learning curve than i had anticipated but does not look overly complicated. Thanks again.
