Question

Canon MV790 recording with an extreme amount of image noise

May 9, 2014 2:54AM PDT

I have recorded a piece of film in a low light pub it is not clear it has a very high amount of image noise. Do i have it on the wrong settings or am I doing something wrong?

What settings would be best?

Answer
low light does bring out the image noise.

Remember the low light discussion has been done many times. I rarely see any settings but try them all and then consider returning this one as unsuitable. Again, let's not repeat the low light discussion.

Low Light

The MV790 looks a rather ancient camera. The reason for image noise is that under low light conditions the video amplifiers crank up and with amplification comes noise.
The new cameras handle low light better as they are fitted with low noise amps - even so "graining" is evident on low light video.
Nothing you can do for the camera I suspect but there are many LED based video lights around that will help performance OR update your camera.

Thank you Terfyn. How would I use the LED light?

Mount it on the camera and switch on.
