Canon HG10 and Corel software

by Genghis McCann / March 23, 2008 1:51 AM PDT

It appears that the camcorder is only recognised by the computer through the Corel software package. Unfortunately I am having difficulty getting the software activated. Is there a driver somewhere that I can download that will do the same thing?

I think it's a very poor idea for Canon to give a single software company absolute control over how their product will be connected to computers.

With my previous DV camcorder (Panasonic) I simply plugged it in and it was recognised by all my editing software. This sounds like a step backwards to me.

Isn't this AVCHD-compatible?

What about Sony Vegas 7.0e and Ulead Video Studio 11?

Download problem

Don't have either. I have Pinnacle studio 10 and ULead MovieFactory Deluxe 2 SE

I understood that the movies are stored in the Camcorder as MPEG4s, so if the camcorder is recognised as an accessory hard drive by my computer I should be able to download via Windows Explorer, should I not, then edit with any software that can handle MPEG4s?

At the moment I want to edit in regular DVD format with 9x13 screen, and go to HD editing within a year or so as I upgrade equipment. I was told I could do this with the HG10. Am I mistaken?

Sorry but these new devices need current editors. Your first post made me think you thought Corel was the only game in town.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
