Canon HG10

Hello,

I know this topic has been discussed by many people before. MT2S files are being converted to WMV and using windows movie maker I am writing it to a DVD.

It is obvious that the quality gets dropped and all I get to watch is Standard definition video as opposed to HD. I realize that sony vegas or some other software can do the job here. However, I am very budget conscious (you might say that then why in the first place I bought HD camcorder) and wonder is there a free or atleast the most cost effecient software that lets me keep the HD quality even after the conversion to a DVD?

The method you use to convert to DVD makes a 'Standard Definition (SD) Video DVD.' Sony Vegas may not be any use until you move to making some HD media.

Moving to HD quality?

In reply to: No.

'Moving to HD' - can you be more specific please? obviously there is stuff like blue ray discs but that is gonna cost me a fortune. Is there any other cost effecient way where in I can keep HD quality?

Keeping the quality is simple.

"MT2S files"

Burn those to DVD instead until the day comes you find media and drives that are affordable.

In fact, look at your common Apple TV. You stream from your PC or Mac to the Apple TV in HD.

A bit lost here. . .

I have a related question:
Is there anyway to view MT2S HD content captured from my camcorder on my XBox360?

Do I have to convert the MT2S to a WMV file using some software? If so, what software can do this WITHOUT losing the HD quality.

Overall, I believe optical discs are going to become obsolete at some point and would rather stream all video from my PC to my TVs rather than carry around a disc and have a blu ray player.
