canon HG 20 not working with Windows Vista 64 bit

When i plug the camcorder into the computer the only thing i get from it is windows telling me that the device has malfunction. I have talked to canon support and the told me that the camera will work with vista.

any input would be great

I put in Vista x64 and the site said "No drivers are available for this selection. This operating system may not require a driver or, in the case of older operating systems, may no longer be supported."

You could have an error in your machine but without telling what that machine is, who installed the OS and more I think it's time to return the product.
