Question

Canon HFM31 just started getting horiz lines of video noise

Sep 9, 2014 7:27AM PDT

Flickering at two places on the frame. They go about halfway across before dissipating. One comes from the left about 1/10 of the way down from the top and the other is midway from the right.

Anyone seen anything like this and hopefully has a solution????

Canon Cust Supt said mail it to us for $160 flat rate cost fix it or not.

initialized solid state and sd cards to blank.
Tried a frimware update but cam would not recognize the file on the SD card. Firmware line on menu never brightened up to become selectable.

This one seems to go for 550 bucks so 160 bucks seems like a good deal. You've done the owner things and I only talk about the slap fix about cheap old gear we are not going to send in or repair.

My Mom used to use the slap fix! Hers was more of a rap.

Broke our tv during the nfl championship between the Packers and the Cowboys back in the 60s. Her decent cooking skills saved her, with my dad and two brothers and me vs her.

Anyway maybe there is something to the slap fix, cause I gave it a few raps from different angles and retired the firmware update and it worked this time.

But, alas, the visual noise remains. back to the drawing board or to Best Buy. Thanks Bob for weighing in.
