Question

Canon HF200 ... compatible software for VIsta 64 bit?

Mar 16, 2013 4:36AM PDT

I have a Canon HF200 camcorder that uses a SD/SDHC memory card for storage., and has AVCHD specifications. The software supplied is Prixela ImageMixer 3 SE. The problem is, ...it's not compatible with Vista 64 bit. Instructions note only 32 bit OS's, so my PC will not accept this software. It appears that Canon has never addressed this particular situation.

I'm looking for the simplest solution, if there is one. Anything, that would allow me to transfer the MTS video files on the camcorder, to a Vista 64 bit PC. Is there such an animal, or a procedure to achieve this? I'm not a computer whiz, and this something new for me. Thanks.

Sorry but why is transfer an issue?

It's on the memory card so transfer is a snap as you copy the file over.

Maybe you wanted to play this on your PC? If so, go get VLC PLAYER now.

RE: sorry ....

The Prixela software, that came with the camcorder, will not install on my 64 bit Windows Vista PC. Prixela instructions state 32 bit OS's, nothing about 64's. My PC will not accept this software, ..I tried. I'd planned to use it for the transfer process.

If I understand your suggestion correctly, all I need to do is:, 1) Transfer video files with a card reader, to the PC, and .... 2) Download VLC Player? If that'll work, I'll be a happy camper. Thanks Bob

Should be fine.

That software for the reasons given so far is not needed. I'd try it the other ways.

Answer
Transfer of MTS files

Have you tried just copying or moving the files across? The supplied software is nice to have but not essential, the files have a "global" format that should be recognised by any decent video editor.

May I make a suggestion. VideoStudio Pro X6 (as well as some others) has a free trial download which lasts 30 days. Why don't you copy the files to a folder on your HD and try to load them into one of the "free" editors?
