and will require a substantial upgrade in hardware and software to work with it. I think SD will be around for quite a while yet. With that said, I decided not to buy an XL2. I'm planning to wait for Canon's HD camera.
I've been told JVC, disappointingly, went off and did their own thing. I'ld keep that in mind if buying their gear.
With Sony, JVC, and Panasonic with either two models on the shelf or one in the visiable pipe line, is has Canon thrown in the towel? I like some of the features that Canon offers in the XL2. With HDV I am leaning toward the JVC ProHD GY-100U. But I like the flexability of using different frame rates the GY does not go into the 1080 range for the HD format.
Is Canon just lagging until the format becomes more solid or are they getting out of the camcorder race?
