Canon GL1 analog in / dv out

Mar 19, 2009 12:06PM PDT

Hello,

I'm trying to do the following:

1) send an Svideo signal into the GL1
2) send that signal to my computer via firewire

(I'm in a theater, and trying to project a live feed from a camera out from my computer, where the signal is being modified).

I'm able to get the svideo signal to show up fine in the GL1 (with the camera in VCR mode). The problem comes when I connect the firewire cable to the computer. Then the signal disappears, because the camera apparently starts thinking that there is a DV input signal (screen goes to blue).

Is there a way to get the svideo in, and send it out via firewire to the computer (essentially using the camera as an analog to digital converter)?

Thanks!, Michael
