Canon FS100 New AC Adapter Won't Charge. Now What?

Jun 11, 2010 1:20PM PDT

Hi,

I lost my the AC adapter (CA-590) for my Canon FS100 camcorder. I purchased a knock-off AC adapter from a chinese company that seemed to have similar specs. (FWIW: I've bought several adapters from the company and they've always worked on -other- devices.)

I plugged in the new adapter and left it for 12 hrs and it has not charged at all. By that I mean that I can power on with the AC adapter attached and apparently everything works OK---including the power meter (which reads 0%).

So now what? Is it possible that the AC adapter has enough juice to power the camera but not charge the battery? Or has the battery gone south? (The camera was left unused for the past 4 months.)

How do I troubleshoot this?

TIA,

---JC
