are miniDV tape based. Connect a firewire cable (not USB) to the camcorder's DV port (not USB) and the computer's firewire port (not USB). Firewire-to-USB cable/converter/adapter things don't work. You did not say which computer hardware you are using. If there is no firewire port (also known as IEEE1394, DV and i.Link), hopefully there is an available expansion slot so you can add one. USB support for streaming or importing high quality, DV format, video was abandoned. USB can be used for transferring still images.
Im having trouble connecting my Elura 40MC to my new laptop (Windows 7 x64). Hooking it up with a USB nothing pops up and under My Computer it doesnt show anything. I dont have an install disc. I followed the Canon instructions to install the drivers by hooking the camcorder up and turning it onto card mode. A box pops up saying its installing software but then it comes back and says no drivers found. I went on the Canon site and under the model # it says no drivers available for the Win 7 operating system. I have installed the Zoombrowser EX software but when I connect the camcorder it still doesn't recognize that its there.
Is this a problem with Windows 7? I have hooked it up without issue to my old computer but no longer can because it crashed.
I need to transfer video from the MiniDV in the camcorder to my computer to edit it.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
