Canon A570 ...Horrible need help with NEW camera

May 31, 2008 2:15AM PDT

Bought a new ( for me ) digital camera in March. We went to Venice and Rome on our 5 year anniversary trip. Day 1 was fine taking pictures outdoors and at night. Day 2 thru the end of our vacation NOTHING during the DAYTIME came out except the "movie portions" ..I went to thru Vatican City,Colosseum and thruout Venice and not one daytime picture came out ...we didn't touch the camera in anyway or drop it ....we tried EVERY Setting on the camera and NOTHING WORKED !!! Nighttime pictures ( most came out ) and there so called stabilization stunk ....It's not like we have the shakes but man these were crappy crappy photos !! I was forced to but Kodak Instant Cameras all over Italy to make sure I had photos for the trip.

were looking for a camera that will produce good quality pictures ..If were at the Beach,Out at Midnight ,Inside,Outside ...Basically ANYWHERE ! I'm not looking to buy a professional camera since we don't take ton's of pictures except for around the house and most importantly VACATIONS !!! I saw people with Sony Cybershots all over and I was CRINGING everytime I saw them snap a picture during the day at St Mark's Square in Venice with BRIGHT Sunshine and there photos were coming out clear and I snapped one on every setting and got a Yellow BLUR !!

Please somebody Help !!!
Thanks

might try this

You might try going into the menu and resetting the camera back to default. It sounds like there is a problem with the white balance with getting a yellow looking picture.

Also, are you having problems with the image stabilization with static objects or things that move..people, cars, etc. Image stabilization does not stop action it just steadies the cameras shot in order to take photos with longer shutter speeds. In lower light situations, the camera will choose a slow shutter speed, such as 1/8th of a second. The image stabilizes the camera, but the shutter is open so long that anything that movies in the environment will blur.

I've had many friends that have bought the A5xx series cameras and have not heard or seen a problem with the output. Can you share some of the pictures by putting them on flickr or photobucket so we can see what is exactly happening in your photos?

Wiseguy with grandson ...easy to type online

Tell your 3 year old grandson to go to St Marks Square in Venice on a Saturday with it 78 degrees and bright sun out and to take one there then. MY camera DIDN'T Work ......It wasan't dropped or broken in anyway ....It took pictures at night fine BUT during the day terrible. I already sold the camera on Amazon ..Let some other person deal with it ....I didn't ask for the wiseguy remarks ..I asked for help with the camera ......I also didn't save any of the all white/yellow blurs on my camera .....They were erased.

are you saying....

you believe that the camera was defective, with no threads or reviews showing the same problems you state, and sold a defective camera to someone else? Also, why would you even ask for the help if you sold it. Within two days of you posting help with the camera, you state that you have already put it online and sold it. This thread appears to be trolling.

The only problem with this forum is anyone can set up an email and a new account here. It appears there have been a few people talking about camera problems with this being their first ever post. Then they don't want to try out suggestions from others and just blame the camera.

Let me give the benefit of the doubt.

Please supply us with some of the photos you stated were a problem. I'm guessing the answer will be that you have already deleted them, and with no camera you cannot back up the claims made. If you can supply the photos, with exif data, I will apologize for suggesting a possible troll thread.

Camera seemed to be fixed once I reset the settings. I was so frustrated with it since I was on a vacation that I got rid of it ...I almost thru it in the Trevi Fountain BUT I got most of my money back for it. I can assure you the photos were all a BLUR but using the AVI and taking short movie snipets with it ..IT did work during the day.

dropoff

All point and shoot cameras will have problems in low light. If they were blur then the shutter speed of the shots were set to where even the image stabilization wouldn't handle it. The Fuji F100fd might be the only one right now that will do half a decent job in low light(in some circumstances). The Sony's wouldn't have done any better.

Point and shoots just don't have the fast lens and low noise in high ISOs that are needed for low light shooting.
