Canon 60 optura vs Panasonic GV250

Apr 19, 2005 9:03AM PDT

Canon 60 optura has a CCD resolution about 1,648,000, where as Panasonic GV 250 has a resolution of only 680,000. But Panasonic is 3CCD. So the total resolution of Panasonic is 3 * 680,000 or it each sensor has of resolution of only 680,000/3. In the above statement which is true?

Canon Optura 60 Vs. Panasonic PV-GS250
Apr 22, 2005 2:43AM PDT

Canon has single CCD but higher resolution, Panasonic has 3 CCD but lower resolution but Canon usses an RGB filter so its color rendention is better than most single CCD camcorders. Optura 60 is better for night shot compared to Panasonic. So which one should a consumer go for if he is looking for great color and ability to shot great videos in low light conditions? 3 CCD panasonic or optura 60 with RGB filter and excellent night shot capability? Any inputs on this or any information related to this that would help in the decision would be greatly appreciated.

Canon manual says effective for tape 1230000 pix. Pany 250 according to posted specs says effective 640000 pix. If so is it 640x3=1920000 effective? The 250 is not true 16:9 so all the pix, I assume are being used either 4:3 or 16:9 but the canon has true 16:9 so in 4:3 are all the pix being used?
