cannot update to new Ad-Aware version 8.1.3

Feb 10, 2010 6:38AM PST

I currently have Ad-Aware version 8.08 and have been trying to update to version 8.1.3 without success. During installation, I get the following error: "A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file: C:\Users\Carol\AppData\Local\Temp\mia1\Ad-AwareAE.msi".

I don't know what that means or how to fix it. I have updated Ad-Aware before without any problems. Should I just delete the whole Ad-Aware program and try to reinstall it? I'm afraid if I do that, I won't be able to install any Ad-Aware program. Any ideas will be appreciated.

System Restore...
Feb 11, 2010 4:47AM PST

You can launch System Restore and create a new restore point prior to uninstalling AdAware, enabling you to revert to your working installation if you cannot install the new version later. After uninstalling AdAware, download/run CCleaner (freeware) prior to reinstalling AdAware to remove temporary files that may be interfering with the installation.

Hope this helps,
John

Ad-Aware 8.1.3 download
Feb 13, 2010 5:51AM PST

I uninstalled AdAware, ran CCleaner, then installed the new version, 8.1.3, of AdAware without difficulty. Evidently you were right about having a pesky temp file jamming up the works! Thank you.
