Cannot see mouse pointer !?

Hi guyz
i have a toshiba L25-S1193
Windows XP Home
512 MB RAM
80GB HDD
Intel Celeron M

and many times when i am using my computer, the mouse pointer just randomly disappears (mostly after i close any running program) ! Once i hibernated the computer when this happened - and after turning on, i was able to see the mouse during the apparent "Log In" Window (but i was already logged on- screen after resuming from stand-by mode) but after clicking on my username and getting to my wallpaper, there was no mouse pointer!!
i do not understand why this is happening! Note: i could still use the mouse's effects tho! (ex. right clicking and clicking)

any help would be appreciated
