Cannot remove name from blocked senders list

by webgal318 / June 22, 2007 10:21 PM PDT

I am stumped!
A customer of mine is having trouble with the blocked senders list. She has several entries that ended up there for some unknown reason. She wants to remove them and cannot. She is running Windows XP with SP2.

I have done the following:
Tools-->Blocked senders-->selected entries that need to be removed-->clicked remove and hit OK. I did not see an apply button. After restarting the computer, I checked the list and the names are still there.

I sent a test e mail to my client and it went directly to her deleted items folder.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for any ideas.

if you told us what email-client your customer is using in XP SP2. Could be MS Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Eudora and some others.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/276511 tells where OE keeps the blocked sender list. Regedit would be the tool to use.

I wonder why they re-appear after you delete them. Regmon or teatimer seem tools to research that.

Hope this helps.

I think there is a bug in the program and uninstalling and reinstalling it may be the way to go.
