Cannot move mouse when Media Center is running on 2 monitor

I have been running media center with a 2nd monitor for some time. Today I hooked it up to a tv with s-video cable and thought I had it working until I shut down media center with the remote control and it sent the pc into hibernate. Not only will it not turn back on with the remote, when I reboot it shows media center in the task bar but the tv screen is black and I can't do a thing on the pc monitor. I'm at my wits end. What can I do to regain control of the desktop? Thanks for any advice. Gary.
