Did you duplicate that Office CD?

Sometimes that helps.

Bad CD? or Windows Vista messed up the CD
by anton520pa / June 29, 2008 12:43 PM PDT

Proffitt:

Was not able to make a copy of the CD. I tried to do so in the old computer with NERO and in the new computer with CyberLink DVD DeLuxe which came with the computer. In both cases the CD drive not able to read its content. Same thing happened when tried to read the contents with Windows Explorer on either computer.

I remember that in the first attempt to install Office 2000 with the Program Compatibility Wizard, the Wizzard did read the CD contents as Office 2000 but could not continue because it did not know I had administrator rights (which I did and also had the UAC disabled). After that time I started getting the errors and messages that I mentioned before.

Thank you for trying to help me. If you have any other ideas please let me know.

If you can't copy it, then it won't install either.

The cure is to get a good copy of the CD. Since this is much like the missing lug wrench and flat tire issue my work here is done.

Had a damaged disk and had to download a trial for the new Office 2007 (student & home edition).

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
