Cannot install downloaded Win ME updates

by Walter E / January 22, 2005 4:46 AM PST

They download quickly but take hours to try to complete the installation and then fail to complete that. I have cleaned, scanned and defragged and turned off virus program as well as Norton Works monitor. What could be the problem?

Which update?

And "all of them" is not something I will help with. For instance, if number 802133 is an issue, I can provide a standalone download to finish it.

In closing, SPYWARE does this.

Occasionally I have experienced the same problem. I think it is caused by a particular server being unavailable since what you download may not contain the entire update and the system it attempting to get the required files from an offline server. Write down the ID numbers of the updates that failed to install and use the Windows update catalog from the Windows update site to download the entire update file to your hard drive. Then install the update from the file on your hard drive. This method works 100%.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
