Cannot hear sound in powerpoint after upgrade to Office 2003

Nov 24, 2004 5:01PM PST

Hi to all,
I encounter the following problem: after having upgraded to Office2003, I cannot hear sound any more
in my Powerpoint presentations.
The very same presentations worked ok with Office2000.
I'm using WIN2000, my microphones are ok, sound is ok
with any other source (video clips, web sites,a.s.o.),
just the powerpoint is "mute" !!!

Specifically, the presentations contain embedded *.wav
files.
Saving the presentation as *.htm or *.mht files and
running them in the browser plays the sound ok.

I tried out the suggestion of Microsoft, to load the
presentation in powerpoint, make some minor change and
resave it, but this does not help, there is no sound
from PowerPoint !
The presentations were not created by me, I'm not a
PowerPoint specialist, but from the online help I
understand that a slide having a sound file attached
to it should appear in PowerPoint with a "sound icon".
But it does not, although the sound is there, playing
ok in the Internet Explorer !

Any help or suggestion will be highly appreciated !

Thanks & My best regards,
Iudith
