General discussion

cannot get HDMI picture

Sep 27, 2008 11:40PM PDT

I just bought a Yamaha receiver and Samsung blu ray player. I have a Sony SXRD tv approx. 2 years old. I ran HDMI from receiver to tv and from blu ray to receiver. It worked great....for one movie. Now it no longer works (??); I only get sound. I have tried switching the cables and running direct to the tv, but with no luck. The blu ray works with component cables, but picture quality is not as good.
Any suggestions??

Return the Bluray player for another one.

Return it? He posted it already worked, so what makes you think that it's not necessarily an issue with settings that were inadvertently changed(?) Please elaborate. Returning items is silly unless you first go through a few basic hoops.

HDMI not working

I should try another blu ray player and different cables to rule those out. I am not aware of any settings that may have been changed, but if anyone has any advice on which settings to check, I will try.

He swapped cables and ran HDMI straight to the TV. John

Problem solved. I replaced the blu ray player and everything works fine. I did not go with Samsung again; in addition to the hdmi not working, the picture kept freezing.
