Question

cannot find sx32w.dll

Feb 28, 2015 1:29AM PST

Hi there,

I keep getting this message when I open a program. The sites that I've gone to to fix the problem keep showing up as positive for viruses/malware.

Not sure what to do.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Clarification Request
Which program?

Why I ask is that this looks to be used for " Rainbow Technologies SentinelSuperPro WIN32 DLL. "

If the file is missing then you reinstall the Rainbow Tech driver and then plug in the dongle from the software maker.

I figured out the cause. I had placed a copy of the program application in a folder on my desktop. If I clicked the program in the desktop folder, the sx32w.dll message appears before the app starts. If I go directly to the program file and click on the application there, I don't get the error message and the application starts normally.

Not sure why that happens, I am by no means a computer or programming expert. I'm sure someone can explain why, as I find it interesting.

Thanks all for your suggestions!

Scott.

Never copy the exe file to your desktop. In this case, it expects that dll-file in the same folder as itself, and you copied only one.

The easiest way to get a program on the desktop is to make a shortcut to that program. Right-click on empty place of the desktop, choose New>Shortcut, browse to the exe file, OK, and give it a nice name. Done.

On my desktop, I've only have shortcuts, nothing else. Not programs, no document, no music, nothing except shortcuts.
